Managers in New Roles
A tendency that is already visible in all modern organizations, one that is gaining strength and will become a dominant in the future is marked by a fundamental change in the mechanisms behind executing organizational roles: The scrupulous performance of "applied" requirements is no longer the sole prerequisite to efficient operations within a role, but is fast being joined by a mutual shaping of such responsibilities. This particularly applies to managerial roles, but is not limited to them. All roles, even the rank-and-file ones, are taking on features of independence; each of them has leadership elements, while managing itself is based on command mechanisms to an increasingly lesser extent in its stead taking on advisory-integrational
qualities.
