The Amended Labor Code - An opportunity for greater Flexibility
In addition to presenting changes in the labor laws that I consider to be of greatest importance, the article contains reflections on the current state and future development of this field of law in the context of the labor market, conditions for the development of Polish companies, especially the SME segment, and human resource management. It is for this reason that I present the balance of changes in labor laws over the years 1989-2001, the most important scope of changes undertaken in July of 2002, where the last group of regulations comes into effect in July of this year, and the economic and social conditions for the development of labor law in Poland against a background of economic and social conditions as well as tendencies of changes in this field of law in countries with developed market economies.

Labor Legislation Models and the Amending of the Labor Code
The molding of the Polish labor legislation model shall be influenced by not only legal and political tradition and culture to date, but also the selection of a defined labor system with its associated version of relations among social partners and the processes of Poland's integration with the European Union.

Job Protection
The phrase "job protection" may be understood variously. Primarily it encompasses the preservation of existing jobs. It also pertains to the restructuring of employment based on the replacement of one set of job positions for another. In contrast to protection of the permanence of labor relations, job protection does not pertain to concrete employees.

Remuneration for Work in the Context of Recent Changes to Labor Legislation
In this article, I examine changes in labor legislation in its relation to work compensation. Two acts are of key importance in this realm-the first is the amended Labor Code (and other legislation) of July 26, 2002, referred to as the July Amendments, and the Act of October 10, 2002 on the minimum wage, described in brief as the Minimum Wage Act.

Work Time Flexibility in the Legislation of European Union Countries and in Poland
Work time flexibility is presently one of the main topics in the realm of European industrial relations. The question of flexibility is becoming an increasingly important matter in negotiations at various levels and in solutions introduced inyo legislation and collective labor agreements in light of social and employment policy in most countries of the European Union. Flexible work time has become a key element in discussions on the modernizing of work organization and employment as of 1997 together with the approval by the European Commission of the "Partnership for New Work Organization" Green Paper.

Accident Insurance - New Legal Regulations
Pursuant to the provisions of the Act of October 13, 1998 on the Social Security System (Journal of Laws No. 137, item 887, with subsequent amendments), known as the System Act, four different types of insurance have been isolated-i.e. retirement and disability pension insurance, sick leave insurance, and accident insurance. The legislation defines those encompassed by the specific types of insurance. It also regulates the principles governing obligatory and elective retirement and disability pension insurance, as well as sick leave insurance. It even defines the scope of people encompassed by accident insurance.
