Chris Brewster Arguments in International and Comparative HRM

This paper examines a series of dichotomies in argumentation about comparative HRM. Some of the most important of these concern the different paradigms which are used to understand and research HRM; the various concepts which are used to explain the differences between countries; and the questions of convergence and divergence. The paper argues that there is value in each approach, but that greater clarity and learning between these approaches would assist and extend our understanding


Hans Gallestrup The Challenges Facing International Managers in the Future

The author discusses a number of important changes of both quantitative and qualitative nature in the environment as well as within various organizations. Changes that an internationally oriented management will have to allow for to an increasingly greater extent. The focus of the article is on intercultural problems.


Habte Woldu Cultural Similarities among Employees Working for Organizations of Similar Functions: The Case of USA, Poland, Russia, and India

This study is an exploration of cultural differences among four countries of different socioeconomic background and among individual employees working in three functionally comparable organizations. The analysis evolves through two phases of study that reflect cross-country and cross-organizational comparison.


Roman Karaś Managerial Staff Work Income and Cultural Conditions

Premises regarding the cultural conditions governing HRM are roughly universal in their acceptance. However, ties between the motivation system, and especially income derived from work, are relatively poorly identified. Thus, the objective of this paper is formulated as follows: An examination of relations between cultural qualities in selected market economy countries and the structure and range of work income in the case of managerial staff.
