Anna Lipka The effectiveness of strategic human
resource management
This article defines the concept of highly–effective SHRM. It presents a
table demonstrating the links between selected strategies and risk, as it is
risk that (like the costs of quality) can increase or decrease the effectiveness

effective SHRM—is also presented.
Tadeusz Oleksyn and Anna Ewa Oleksyn Managers and
leaders
In 1977, Prof. Abraham Zaleznik contrasted managers and leaders. The differences
between the two are also evident in Poland, which is confirmed by research
presented in brief in the article. These differences should be familiar to
managers, especially personnel managers, and they should be taken into account
in selecting and developing a managerial staff and in managing competencies.

of employees

creative achievements. Special attention is paid to relations linking management
style demonstrated by the superior with the creativity of subordinates. Moreover,
the article engenders reflection on links between the assessment, reward, and
penalty systems functioning in the organization and the creativity of people
employed by it.
Anna Balcerek From management to leadership
The contemporary labor market forces managers to have the skills needed in the
effective conducting of transformations within the organization. Charismatic
leadership replaces traditional management and the manager becomes a leader. The
objective behind this paper is to demonstrate the competency and skill of the
traditional manager, as it is developed to achieve the level of a leader
conducting change. This publication is the end product of studies of literature,
mainly English and German, in the realm of leadership in the process of change.
Czesław Sikorski The attitude to success as a basis for
organizational culture
The purpose of this article is to present the typology of organizational
cultures in terms of the attitude of people to professional success. Two
criteria were used in building the typology: the position of a sense of control
and the relationship to professional rule. Four types of organizational culture
were identified on this basis. They differ in terms of level of aspiration of
people and their relationship to praxeological, moral, and customary
professional rules.
Bogusława Urbaniak Collective labor relations as a
subject for scientific consideration: Reflections on American experience
