ARTICLES
Krzysztof Klincewicz Offshoring Services – Examples from the IT Industry
The article describes the phenomenon of offshoring—international service delivery based on remote work in the global business environment. The example of the Indian IT services industry coupled with the human resource policy of its leader—Infosys Technologies—provides insights for the formulation of recommendations for Polish enterprises in the areas of competency and intellectual capital development as well as client relationship management. The experiences of offshoring providers indicate the growth potential for export operations by local firms based on what is known as the nearshore, in parallel to direct investments by multinational corporations, establishing regional service centers in Poland.

Marcin Bukowski Integrated Worker Competency Development Management
In this paper the concept of competency management is considered an important theoretical base that enables the linking together of the processes of strategy redefinition and personnel development in an organization. It is especially the issue of competency development that may provide new opportunities for organizations by delivering practical methods and procedures for stimulating the internal growth of intellectual capital. A procedure of competency development is presented and possibilities of its application as a tool for building an efficient training policy are considered.

Izabela Marzec Motivation Through Empowerment
Recent years clearly show a rising interest in methods for managing human resources that may help increase the input of workers in the success of the organization as well as make possible full access to “hidden resources” of knowledge, creativity, and worker initiative (Thompson, 1999). A concept that seems to bring in a wealth of input into the discussed question is the empowerment of workers. This article discusses the idea of empowerment, its basic definitions, and the scope of its variety of concepts. The results of empirical studies thanks to which new dimensions of worker empowerment have been identified are also presented.
