ARTICLES
Kazimierz Perechuda Knowledge Workers as the Creators of Networking Potential
The resource–based concept of gaining competitive advantage is making the grade. A modern day business is primarily a system of relations. Hence the appearance of a question regarding the defining and operationalizing this system of relations within the contemporary business. Relations are exclusively intangible in nature and, unfortunately, they are very short–lived when in a highly turbulent environment. Nevertheless, in building a system of relation for a given business, we try to build long–term potential that defines the strengths and capacity for survival of the organization in the long–term perspective.

Zbigniew Antczak Evolution of the Personnel Function
The author presents the unique results of research into the personnel function in virtual network–based companies. By following changes, a virtualization of the personnel function is diagnosed (e–Human Resources Management).

Krzysztof Klincewicz Development of Employee Competencies in Offshore Services Companies
The article describes the competency building processes in international service centers based on the example of Indian offshoring companies. The analysis encompasses the specificity of employee competencies in various types of service organizations, the phenomenon of staff attrition, and systemic measures adopted to increase retention: formalization and organizational improvement. The case of the Indian IT industry additionally demonstrates the offshore project management model and the role of a firm’s environment, including public administration, educational institutions, and industry associations, in building employee competencies.

Waldemar Grzywacz Does Dispersed Work Influence the Dispersing of Conflict?
Teleinformation technologies are among the fastest developing areas and they are defining the progress of all of humanity. They are changing not only technology and the functioning of technology, but they are also having wide–ranging social consequences. Relations among people are beginning to take on different shapes, social mechanisms function differently, and the dynamics of group behavior is taking on a different course. Modern technologies make possible the efficient managing of people and organizations while restricting the impact of such dimensions as time and space. The striving to increase the efficiency of the functioning of teams leads to a search for new structures and new ways to organize work. Time and space, two basic dimensions of the real world, are also beginning to take on a different meaning.
