ARTICLES
Łukasz Sułkowski - Are Corporate Cultures Moving Towards
Unification?
This article looks at corporate culture pattern directions of development; these have been analyzed from the point of view of influence exerted by globalization processes. Results of international comparative research into corporate culture configurations are presented. The author derives some cautious conclusions from these results, specifically: (1) A gradual unification of corporate culture patterns is taking place in different countries; (2) This unification process is faster in the sphere of cultural artifacts and behavior than in the sphere of corporate values. Processes of corporate culture changes as influenced by globalization require further international comparative
studies.
Ewa Brzesińska and Agnieszka Dziedziczak - Managers in a Multi-Culture Environment
The objective of this article is to try to portray specified areas of cultural values-i.e. culturally conditioned views as to what is desirable, beneficial, and valuable within the framework of a given culture-as well as to provide logical models encompassing the customs and practices of managers from various cultures, inclusive of communication patterns that are dominant in those cultures, which may prove useful in international
contacts.
Czesław Sikorski- Cultural Discord Within Organizations
This article is devoted to the phenomenon of confrontation of differing cultural patterns in corporate systems. The first part presents the reasons for as well as conditions under which cultural incompatibilities make their appearance. Such incongruities encompass the initial period of the organization's operations, the introduction of change, and an expansion its the subject or area of activity. The second part characterizes models of relations among subcultures with respect to various reactions to the phenomenon of cultural discord. The last part of the article proposes a typology of organizational cultures based on such criteria as the relationship of organization members to the cultural
incongruity.
